The University of Tennessee is located in Knoxville and has had a top five ranked college football team for the past three seasons. Neyland Stadium is one of the largest football stadiums in the country, and the team’s spring scrimmage is happening the day of the wedding. There are pre-game festivities around the stadium, plentiful tickets if you want to experience a game in Neyland, and it’s walkable from the hotels. The link for last year’s game is here to give you a sense of the activities, and we will post this year’s when it’s published.
Knoxvile’s Market Square, located a few blocks from the hotels, is a great place to check out anytime and on Saturday mornings it hosts a terrific Farmer’s Market. More information on the vendors, hours, and location are linked here.
Just 45 minutes from Knoxville, the Great Smoky Mountains is the most visited national park in the United States. Some of our favorite trails to hike are the Middle Prong that winds along waterfalls, and Tremont Falls.
A pretty cruise of the Tennessee River that boards from the flat on the south side of downtown
In addition to Market Square and the shops and restaurants there, the main drag of downtown, Gay Street, and our Old City just off it down Jackson Avenue are full of great bars, restaurants, art galleries and shops…especially Anne’s aunt Beth MacDonald’s Bethie Lou’s gift boutique.
